Song of the day: “The Coldest Heart” by Cemetery Skyline
We had previously told you about Cemetery Skyline on some occasions, this new gothic rock/metal project formed by Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity, The Halo Effect, Grand Cadaver) on vocals, Markus Vanhala (Insomniu, Ómnium Gatherum) on guitar, Santeri Kallio (Amorphis) on keyboards, Victor Brandt (Dimmu Borgir, Witchery) on bass guitar and Vesa Ranta (The Abbey, Sentenced) on drums. They debuted in April with the release of their spectacular single Violent Storm and since then they have released two new songs, In Darkness and the most recent one that is part of our “song of the day” section, The Coldest Heart.
“This song deals with the endless need for validation and misguided desperation. It is based on some dramatic experiences I had in recent times that ended with incarceration. It spells out its darkness in all its loveless splendor“, says vocalist Michael Stanne about The Coldest Heart. In a way we can say that the song manages to convey that feeling of loneliness and sadness thanks to the great work of its members. “The Coldest Heart’ is one of the very first songs written for Cemetery Skyline and it is an obvious tribute to ‘The Green Man’, but in a very gentleman way. It is a heavy hitter for a gloomy summer hit in 2024“, adds guitarist Markus Vanhala.
The band will make their live debut this summer at the Finnish festival John Smith Rock Festival which will take place from August 18th to August 20th, 2024 in Laukaa. You can listen to The Coldest Heart below.
