We interviewed Nathan James, leader of the British hard rock band Inglorius who recently released his third studio album “Ride To Nowhere”.

The British Inglorius, led by vocalist Nathan James (Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Uli Jon Roth), unleashed their latest album Ride To Nowhere on November 25, 2018 via Frontiers Records. For this reason, their vocalist and frontman Nathan James has answered a few questions with Allied Forces to talk about their latest album.

Hi Nathan, thanks for having us, I hope you are all doing fine. First of all, for all those who don’t know the band, what members currently make up Inglorius?

Nathan (me) bluesy rock singer and “song writer”? 30 years old from south England. Inspired by the greatest singers of all time. Drummer Phil Beaver, monster drummer and guitarist, singer, song writer. Danny de la Cruz our 19 year old guitar virtuoso… this boys talent is inspired by Yngwie, Slash, etc, he has all the style and flare a lead player needs at only 19. Dan Steven‘s, guitarist and a guy that looks like he could kick ya ass. Great guitarist and solid rhythm and lead player. Last but not least the bass comes from Brazil, Vinnie Cola: incredible bass player, very versatile. He’s into jazz, rock, blues and prog, he plays it all.

Inglorious is a band that begins to take shape in 2014. How did the idea of forming a band like Inglorious came about?

I was approached by management and Derek Shulman (who signed Bon Jovi) and he suggested I found a bunch of musicians to form a band around me as all my heroes fronted bands. That’s when i started looking for musicians to join my band.

In these five years of career you have released three studio albums, the last one of them this year. How have you lived the first years as a band and how do you think it has grown to this point?

The band is my baby and it’s all j think about. I am so proud that we managed to make 3 great albums so far and we are still just so excited to see people ar our shows and loving what we are doing. Hard work, focus, writing songs people like and always trying to be the best band we can be.

On your last album Ride To Nowhere, you have made a remarkable leap in terms of musical quality and composition. Why do you think that originated this change? Has it been intentional?

I think lyrically I had alot to write about and I’m also a better writer with each album. I’m so proud of this one and so happy you said that…its much heavier and darker but I think that’s really important.

How are you living the release of your third album?

So far so good. We have already started writing the fourth album!

Besides Inglorious, do you combine your work with other bands?

Nope. This is my only band. I like to dedicate my time and voice to one thing so I know I gave it my best shot.

Being part of a band is an arduous task and I understand that it is often difficult to lead a normal life and keep a band on the other side. How do you think it is possible to do something like that and to what extent do you think it is feasible to enjoy both?

I have balance…when in on tour its crazy…drinking, partying, seeing friends, making music but when I’m home I live on a farm with my animals and I love it. So so happy. I live by the sea and I relax alot when I’m home. You need balance to make it work. Also doing it with people u love and respect makes it much easier and it should be fun.

Your music combines a lot of elements from other genres, something that is particularly enjoyable and that makes your music something authentic without stopping to look back. What artists or bands do you think have influenced you to a greater or lesser extent and what do you think it is and for what reason?

I love great singers…any genre, if the singer is great I am into it… Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Michael Bolton, dio, Freddie Mercury, Paul Rodgers etc. So anything that.speaks to me as a singer and I a obsessed by great blues singer like Paul Rodgers and David Coverdale. Such incredible voices… I also make music I like which is important for sure.

Many times it is complicated to plan the future but sometimes there are certain things that are very clear from the beginning. Is there anything new that you can anticipate in a short term?

Writing a 4th album with this line io that is gonna blow people away…and go on tour and play wonderful cities to lovely people that love good music.

As a band, you usually have a goal. What would it be?

To do what we are doing for as long as possible and enjoy everyday as we are so lucky we get to do this.

If you could choose a very important band for you with which to share the stage, what band would it be?

Hmmm…tough question….Guns n Rose’s…taught me so much about rock and roll and appetite literally was my awakening to rock music. It would mean so much to me

To finish, I would like you to choose a song from your discography that you consider that faithfully represents the sound of Inglorious.

The song Inglorious…its heavy, groovy, harmonies, dramatic, dark, clever, and it showcases my vocal.

With this we said goodbye, once again I want to thank the time dedicated to the whole band and take the time to send a greeting to all who make this possible. Is there something you want to add?

Come see us on tour. We are a live band and absolutely love being on stage. Come and share that feeling with us!

Thank you very much for your dedication, all the best.
