Dark Tranquillity releases new single “The Last Imagination”

The melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity, one of the longest-running bands in its genre, is finalizing preparations for its new studio album. Although more details are not yet known about the successor to their successful album Moment (2020, Century Media Records), the band has recently released their new single The Last Imagination, which you can listen to below:

Dark Tranquillity was born in Gothenburg, Västra Götaland in 1989 as Septic Broiler, although it would not be until 1991 that the band would adopt the name Dark Tranquillity. They debuted in 1993 with the album Skydancer which included vocalist Anders Fridén (In Flames) while vocalist Mikael Stanne was still part of In Flames, with whom he released Lunar Strain in 1994. Stanne joined Dark Tranquillity as vocalist in 1993 having collaborated with the band as a rhythm guitarist between 1991 and 1993.

Since forming in 1991, Dark Tranquillity have released twelve studio albums, the most recent of which is 2020’s Moment which features guitarist Johan Reinholdz for the first time as a rhythm guitarist. The band consists of vocalist Mikael Stanne, guitarist Johan Reinholdz, bassist Christian Jansson, drummer Joakim Strandberg-Nilsson and keyboardist Martin Brändström.
