Brutal Assault 2024: More stoner bands confirmed!
The Brutal Assault organization has recently announced that four stoner bands are joining the 2024 lineup. To the previous confirmed bands, Baroness, Dopelord, Gaupa and The Obsessed are added, gradually completing the lineup for its new edition that by the moment is not completely closed.
“This stoner four consist of the musically unrestrained and diverse BARONESS, DOPELORD with their doom-satanistic songs, the stoner rock GAUPA with a doom-folkish touch and last but not least Scott Wino Weinrich with THE OBSESSED, who was part of the creation of the given style – for example with the band Saint Vitus“, says the Brutal Assault organization when announced the confirmation of the aforementioned bands on its social networks.
“A wildly cathartic and brilliantly crafted blast of progressive metal” – that’s how Rolling Stone magazine described the album Purple (2015) by the American band Baroness. The band, which was nominated for a Grammy in 2019 with their ambitious album Gold & Grey, will bring their latest sixth studio album Stone to the Fortress. It streamlines the multi-genre nature of the previous album, and as lead singer John Baizley describes, “Stone is much livelier, more straightforward”.
The lineup of stoner music will be expanded with the addition of Poland’s Dopelord, with their doom-satanic songs, stoner rock band Gaupawith their folkish touch, and finally, The Obsessed featuring Scott Wino Weinrich, one of the pioneers of the genre, having previously played, for example, with the band Saint Vitus.
You can also look forward to a sharp dose of 80s thrash on the Josefov stages. Three names from the American scene will be there: Forbidden and Heathen with their Bay Area thrash, and Hirax with their characteristic maniacal blend of speed and thrash metal. German band Exumer, known for their classic old-school approach, will complete the quartet – a must for all Exodus and Slayer fans.
Among the bands that are added to the Brutal Assault lineup during the past months, the return of the death metal of the British Carcass or the Swedish melodic death metal masters Dark Tranquility stands out as well as the genuine Vltimas led by the great David Vincent, not without forgetting some emerging Unto Others or the Finnish Kalmah who will also delight lovers of melodic death metal. In addition to those already mentioned we find bands like Escuela Grind, Cancer Bats, Aborted, Cytotoxin, Deathstars, Madball, Master Boot Record, Misery Index, Cynic, Pig Destroyer, Rotten Sound, Show Me The Body, Soil, Svalbard, This Is Hell or Yellow Eyes.
